Funding is intended to give talented young researchers under the age of 40 in all disciplines and research areas the opportunity to pursue their own research ideas and lead a research project. This call is targeted towards researchers in the early stages of their careers, 2–7 years after defence of an approved doctorate, who have demonstrated the potential to conduct research of high scientific quality.

The purpose of this call is to increase international mobility and promote career development among researchers at an early stage in their careers, as well as to facilitate knowledge transfer to research groups in Norway. This call is targeted towards researchers at the post-doctoral level who are to spend two years at a research organisation abroad and the third year at a research organisation in Norway. Grant proposals will be accepted for projects within all disciplines and research areas.

The purpose of this call is to strengthen basic, ground-breaking research of high scientific quality through interdisciplinary collaboration, and to advance the research front. Addressing the societal challenges of today and tomorrow calls for radical leaps in knowledge. Grant proposals will be accepted for projects within all disciplines and research areas. By providing large-scale allocations and requiring collaboration between researchers from different subject fields, we are seeking to produce new knowledge that would not be possible to obtain without interdisciplinary cooperation. Projects will be financed under the Fellesløft IV joint funding initiative between Norway’s research institutions and the Research Council of Norway.

Ground-breaking research

Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs), approved Norwegian research organisations and micro-businesses originating in research organisations and/or TTOs can apply.

The objective is to promote greater commercial utilisation of R&D results from publicly-funded research in Norway. Commercialisation Projects are to clarify uncertainties related to the commercial utilisation of high-potential research results by answering questions that will prevent the project from moving forward in the commercialisation process if they remain unanswered

A Milestone Project is a short-term Commercialisation Project targeted towards completing the next, most critical milestone phase in order to move along the long-term commercialisation pathway.

Trade and industry

Approved Norwegian research organisations in cooperation with relevant actors from the private and/or public sector or other public or private organisations can apply.

The objective is to promote cooperation to develop R&D expertise and capacity in areas of importance to society and business and industry. Collaborative and Knowledge-building Projects are to help develop and promote new knowledge and to improve interaction and knowledge transfer between R&D groups and stakeholders in society in order to find solutions to important societal challenges.
