What the contract involves

The contract consists of an agreement document, the project description and the Research Council’s General Terms and Conditions for R&D Projects.

Roles defined in the contract

There are various formal roles to be filled in an R&D project funded by the Research Council. Below you will find the terms we use in our contracts and the responsibilities assigned to each role.

Eurostars – for small and medium-sized enterprises

Norwegian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that carry out research and development may seek funding for R&D projects from the Eurostars Programme. There are two application deadlines in Eurostars each year, one in the spring and one in the autumn.

Rates for funding of research time and research fellowships

We will discontinue the use of the lump-sum rate as the upper annual limit for grants for research time in the higher education sector and for research fellowship positions in general. The changes will be introduced for new calls for proposals in 2026 and will apply to applications submitted from 1 January 2026.
