Organisations participating in applications and projects
All organisations that will carry out activities in a project, contribute funding or deliver R&D services must be registered as a participating organisation in the application.

Participating organisations can have different roles:
Project Owner organisation
All applications submitted to the Research Council must be submitted by a Project Owner. The organisation is responsible for ensuring that the application complies with the Research Council's guidelines and that the project has the necessary resources to carry out the project if the application is approved.
It is the Project Owner's organisation that receives the funding decision after the Research Council has processed the application. It is also the Project Owner's organisation that can submit any appeal against a decision to the Research Council.
If the application is approved, the Project Owner's organisation will be responsible to the Research Council for ensuring that any initial report is submitted and that the project is carried out as agreed.
Collaborating partners
In collaborative projects, organisations that will carry out activities in the project or contribute funding must be registered as partners in the application. Read more about collaboration agreements.
The organisation's executive unit
If the Project Owner or partner organisastion has several sub-entities, such as faculties, production units, etc., we want to know which sub-entity is responsible for carrying out the activities planned in the project. We use this information for statistics and analysis, but also to get a better picture of how the project will be carried out.
However, it is the overarching unit of the organisation that we formally relate to. If sub-entities have their own organisation number in the Norwegian Register for Legal Entities, we will retrieve the organisation number of the parent entity. If there is a sub-unit in the research sector, we use Statistics Norway's register of research organisations and units to find the parent unit. This means that when you select a sub-unit, we automatically find the right parent unit for you.
R&D provider
In some calls, the Research Council allows Project Owner organisations and/or partners to procure R&D services from research organisations and other actors. If you are going to purchase such R&D services, the R&D provider must be registered as a partner in the project, with the partner type R&D provider. Costs for purchasing R&D must be budgeted in one or more work packages, and the relevant R&D supplier must be linked to the cost line.
Subcontractors do not have a role in the application, and they must not be registered as a participating organisation in the project.
