About the call for proposals

We will publish more information as it becomes available.

Purpose

The purpose of this call is to obtain new knowledge about the direct relationships and interaction effects between food, the environment and/or climate and public health. The projects can be based on any of the three academic areas, but all areas must be covered.

Thematic or subject-specific guidelines

The applications must provide knowledge about the direct relationships and interaction effects between the three areas:

  • Food
  • Environment and/or climate
  • Public Health

The order of academic areas is arbitrary, and we want a good academic breadth and applications from different applicant environments. In other words, the projects can be built around any of the three listed areas.

Delimitations

We are looking for applications that are relevant to Norwegian conditions and with clear elements from all three areas. An element is understood here as a defined task, work package or equivalent that is carried out and/or led by people with relevant R&D expertise. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be recommended for allocation. It is therefore important that the application includes a summary overview of the subject areas and the elements they contain.

Structural guidelines

The projects that are awarded funding must be relevant for Norwegian conditions.

Why we have this call for proposals

Knowledge about the connections between food, the environment, climate and public health can be important for anticipating change, and for being able to develop effective strategies and solutions for adaptation, prevention and prioritisation.

Climate change can, for example, affect the environment, food production and public health, and food production can affect the environment and climate while also having an impact on nutrition and public health. Public health goals, on the other hand, can have an impact on food production and on climate and environmental issues. One health perspectives or the food system may be possible approaches to this topic.
