FRIPRO in new application system in January 2027

Applications for FRIPRO must be registered in the new application system from 14 January. At the same time, the old system for FRIPRO will be closed. Those who are working on applications in the old system must submit the application by 14 January or create the application in the new system.

We will transfer calls for proposals in stages to the new application system. In January, the following applies to applications for the calls:

  • Researcher Project for Experienced Scientists (FRIPRO)
  • Researcher Project for Early Career (FRIPRO)
  • Researcher Project with International Mobility (FRIPRO)
  • Top Researchers – Researcher Projects to Develop World Leading Research Communities (FRIPRO)

If you submit your FRIPRO application in the old system by 1 December 2026, you will receive feedback on necessary adjustments to the application before the old system closes.

Due to the step-by-step move, applications for Radical Research Ideas for Early Career Scientists will continue in the old application system for somewhat longer. Information about the transfer of such applications will be published no later than six weeks before the transition to the new system.

New application form

The new application form for FRIPRO has been adjusted in line with feedback from users following the Researcher Project calls this spring, and following a user test of the FRIPRO application form this autumn. For example, we have adjusted the number of text boxes and character limits and made it possible to download your own application as a PDF.

Webinar for applicants

We will arrange a webinar for applicants for the FRIPRO calls after we have opened for the relevant applications in the new system in January 2027.

More information about date and registration/link will come.

Roles and permissions

All persons who are assigned mandatory roles in the application must confirm their role before the application can be submitted. A representative of the Project Owner organisation is always mandatory, and in most calls for proposals, the project manager will also be mandatory.

Read more about roles in applications and projects (new system).

Narrative CV

The new system uses a template for narrative CV. It is based on a template developed by UK Research and Innovation. In the narrative CV, applicants must provide a textual description of the competence in the project, where factors that are relevant to the implementation of the project are emphasised. This also applies to individual competence.

We will as soon as possible establish a direct link to The Norwegian Research Information Repository.

Formulas and symbols in the application form

Unfortunately, when the transition to the new application system is introduced in January, there will not be satisfactory functionality for some mathematical symbols and descriptions of formulas. This will apply especially to mathematics, and also to parts of the areas of technology, physics and chemistry.

This will be prioritised for further development in 2027. We will invite a test group of relevant researchers to provide necessary input and feedback on the functionality of symbols and formulas.

Applicants who need to use formulas and symbols can either apply in the current system by 14 January 2027 or enter the formulas as text or images in the application in the new application system from 14 January. There is room for four images per field.

A detailed guide is published at FRIPRO's information page before the new application system opens.
