About the event
Are you going to apply for an ERC Synergy Grant in May 2027?
This webinar is open only to researchers and EU advisors at Norwegian research institutions. It is intended for researchers preparing an application for the ERC Synergy Grant deadline on 11 May 2027 and the advisors supporting them.
ERC Synergy Grants support ambitious, groundbreaking research projects undertaken by a small group of two to four Principal Investigators (PIs) who combine their expertise and resources to address scientific challenges that could not be tackled by a single PI and their team alone. The scheme provides up to €10 million over a period of six years, with additional funding available under specific conditions. Applicants can be at different career stages, provided they demonstrate a competitive scientific track record appropriate to their career stage.
After the registration deadline, you will receive a final confirmation on whether you have secured a spot in the webinar. We allocate a portion of the spots to researchers and advisors at institutions with limited ERC experience if there is high interest. Only participants who are registered and logged in during the webinar will receive the course materials.
The webinar will provide information and strategic advice on developing a competitive proposal for the ERC Synergy Grant scheme. You will learn how to position an ambitious and groundbreaking research idea, articulate the scientific rationale and added value of the proposed synergy, demonstrate the complementarity and collective strength of the PI group, and prepare the proposal in line with the ERC's evaluation elements and application requirements.
The course combines presentations, examples and interactive exercises, with particular attention to what distinguishes a ERC Synergy Grant project from conventional collaborative research, the expectations placed on the individual PIs and the group as a whole, and common issues that can weaken a Synergy Grant proposal.
