International collaborative projects with Formas serving as lead agency

Researchers at approved Norwegian research institutions can now, under the European Weave initiative, participate in project proposals with a Swedish lead applicant. This is a pilot call for Weave between the Research Council of Norway and the Swedish Research Council for sustainable development (Formas). For this call, Norwegian researchers will be able to apply jointly with Swedish colleagues via “Explore” - Formas’ open call for research projects.

In this call, Formas is the Lead Agency, while the Research Council of Norway, together with research funders from Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg, are Partner Agencies. Proposals must be led by a Swedish project coordinator at a Swedish host organisation and may include project partners from one or two of the participating countries: Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

The following conditions apply for Norwegian applicants

Thematic scope

Applications with Norwegian partners must fall within the thematic scope of the Climate and Environment portfolio, cf. Section 2.1 Porteføljens avgrensing (only in Norwegian). Environmental research is the main theme of the call in accordance with Formas’ framing of the theme “Explore”, and in this call we do not open for funding projects with a different main theme.
