The Research Council will introduce a new and more user-friendly application form in 2026
During 2026, everyone who applies for funding for research and innovation projects will be using the new system.
We have three goals for the new application and case processing system:
- Better services for applicants;
- More efficient administration, and;
- Better insight into, and analysis of, data.
The new application form will be introduced in line with our calls for proposals throughout the spring.
What do the changes mean for you as an applicant?
These are some of the most important changes that you as an applicant will experience:
- You get a more secure login instead of a password solution. We use common public solutions that have already been developed, such as ID-porten, the Brønnøysund Register Centre and the National Population Register.
- You get a more user-friendly and accessible interface.
- It will be easier to see what you as an applicant are assessed on through a clearer division of criteria.
- We have added an automatic calculation of the possible grant per application. In the new system, the project description must be entered directly into the application form, and not sent as an attachment.
SkatteFUNN applicants started using the system in 2024.
Applicant surveys show that applicants think the new system is user-friendly.

Important information
There is an error in the counting of characters in the rich-text fields in the new application form (My page) when images and tables are entered in addition to text. (The error does not apply to My RCN web.)
The error will be corrected when we update our application system on Wednesday 20 May from 3 pm to 8 pm.
You can work on your application, but we close for submitting applications during that particular time. You may experience some instability in your system during the update.
