About the event

We invite research organisations, EU advisers at Norwegian institutions, and other interested stakeholders to this webinar. During the webinar, we will present opportunities for collaboration with Japan and South Korea through Horizon Europe.

Japan and South Korea are among the most research-intensive economies in the world and important partners for Europe in research and innovation. South Korea became formally associated to Pillar II of Horizon Europe on 17 July 2025, while Japan became formally associated to Pillar II on 30 July 2026. This enables research organisations in both countries to receive funding on the same terms as entities from other associated countries.

Both Japan and South Korea actively participate in Pillar II of Horizon Europe, which focuses on global challenges and European industrial competitiveness. This includes research and innovation in areas such as health, digitalisation, industry, climate, energy, and sustainability.

This webinar will provide an introduction to collaboration opportunities with Japan and South Korea under Horizon Europe. Participants will receive practical advice on how Norwegian organisations can establish and strengthen partnerships with leading research institutions in both countries. Through presentations and examples, attendees will gain insight into the different frameworks for cooperation with Japan and South Korea, as well as information on relevant funding opportunities and strategic priority areas.
