Chips JU calls 2026

The European Commission finances research/innovation and capacity building within semiconductor technologies under its Horizon and Digital Programme. The European Commission and the national research councils work together to finance the projects. The announcements that are relevant for this national co-financing announcement are advertised on the website of Chips JU (Participate).

It is important to read the National Eligibility Guidelines ECS for Norway. Requirements include the presence of at least one Norwegian company in each project. The maximum national co‑funding per project ranges from NOK 4 million to NOK 15 million. Applicants must also submit the Template for National Part.

    • Quantum Chips Design – HORIZON‑JU‑CHIPS‑2026‑QUANTUM‑1‑RIA (EUR 30 million). Launch: July 7, deadline September 7.
    • Quantum Chips: Enabling Technologies – HORIZON‑JU‑CHIPS‑2026‑QUANTUM‑2‑RIA (EUR 20 million). Launch: July 7, deadline September 7.
  • Skills Development

It is important to read the National Eligibility Guidelines Chips for Europe – Norway. The maximum national co‑funding per project ranges from NOK 4 million to NOK 10 million. The Template for National Part must also be completed.

Norway participates with a total national co‑funding of NOK 40 million. Depending on the number of qualified applications, up to 25% extra funds may be allocated. Depending on the volume of submitted and qualified applications, up to 25% extra funding may be allocated to the call to fund more projects on the ranking list.
The projects will be nationally co-financed continuously according to the decision of Chips JU. The decision for several of the calls will be made at the same time in December 2026. If necessary, we will prioritize according to character from the evaluation.
For the announcements that have not yet been published by Chips JU: they are described in the work programs under Chips JU documents. Appendix 7 – ECS 2026 and Appendix 8 – C4EI 2026 – the versions there may be updated before the Chips JU announcement is published.
