NOK 100 million SAMKUL call launched

A new SAMKUL was published mid-December, with deadline February 17, 2016. On the basis of the new programme plan for the years 2016 to 2020 up to NOK 100 million will be awarded to researcher projects.

As indicated in a previous article on the SAMKUL home page, the aim of SAMKUL programme for the period 2016 to 2020 is still to expand the knowledge base for society's direction and political choices. In order to better equip society to meet major societal challenges and the opportunities arising from them, we need a broad interpretation, understanding and explanation also of the cultural conditions, or rather cultural prerequisites, underlying societal development. The new programme plan describes the prioritized thematic areas and dimensions for the upcoming years, which are: Man and Nature; Technology and Material Environments; and Knowledge, Welfare and Economy, analysed through these crosscutting dimensions: Historical, linguistic, religious, ethical, normative, communicative and aesthetic dimensions. Research project applications to the call must shed light on important societal challenges and adhere to the abovementioned areas and dimensions.

More information about the SAMKUL programme and the thematic priorities and perspectives for the years 2016 to 2020 is given in the Work programme document. The call text provides more information regarding project design, requirements and criteria.
