Advanced scientific equipment, large-scale research facilities, scientific databases and collections, and electronic infrastructure (eInfrastructure) are essential tools for researchers.

About the initiative

  • European research infrastructure:

No new Norwegian-hosted projects put forth for ESFRI Roadmap

The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) will be updating its Roadmap in 2016. The Research Council of Norway recommends that Norwegian authorities should not put forth any new Norwegian-led projects for inclusion on the roadmap.

  • Social science research:

European research data to be collected in Bergen

A pan-European centre for archiving social science-related data was officially launched in Bergen recently. Norway will permanently host this vital piece in the modern array of research infrastructure being developed throughout Europe.

  • NOK 500 million for new research equipment

This year’s large-scale allocation will give Norway 16 new, modern and essential research infrastructures in the form of laboratories, databases and scientific equipment. The infrastructure will lay the basis for trailblazing research, future value creation and attractive research and education institutions.
