Europe in Transition (EUROPA) is the Research Council of Norway's research initiative on transition processes in Europe and how these processes affect Norway. The initiative is designed to promote high-quality Europe-related research over a period of years (2007-2023).

  • Norway a dynamo in research on the EU

Norwegian research groups are among Europe’s best when it comes to research on the EU. Three projects have received a total of EUR 7.5 million from Horizon 2020 to study the EU’s role as a global actor.

  • How do the crises in Europe affect Norway?

The Europe in Transition Research Initiative at the Research Council of Norway is allocating NOK 11 million over four years to the research project “Europe in transition – small states in an age of global shifts (EUNOR)”. The project will generate new knowledge on the impact of the crises in Europe on Norway and on Norway’s relations with the EU.

  • Norwegian researchers focus on Europe:

Seeking new knowledge about the European crisis

The financial crisis in Europe also affects the countries that have been doing well up to now. What will the impact of the crisis be on democracy and employment in the longer term – both for the EU countries and for a country such as Norway?
