Positive evaluations of the NANO2021 and BIOTEK2021 technology programmes

Two of the Research Council of Norway’s large-scale technology programmes have been evaluated after five years of operation. The evaluation reports praise both programmes while also recommending certain changes.

The results from this year's optimisation call is available

Ten projects were granted NOK 76 million in total. There were in total 26 projects applying for NOK 194 million. The allocation is done by the program boards of BIOTEK2021 and FORNY2020.

NOK 250 million for a new biotechnology centre

The Research Council of Norway has awarded NOK 250 million in funding under the new biotechnology initiative on digital life for the establishment of a national centre. Six large-scale Researcher Projects will be carried out under the auspices of the centre, with topics spanning from aquaculture to brain research.

Optimization announcement for 2015

This year's optimization announcement in biotechnology is now available on the Research Council website. It is announced 40 million kroner for projects related to marine agricultural- and industrial biotechnology.

Funding announcement from ERA-NET for Systems Medicine

The Research Council participates through the national program Biotechnology for Innovation (BIOTEK2021) in the first joint transnational call from ERACoSysMed, a new ERA-NET Cofund that focuses on promoting the implementation of systems medicine in clinical research and medical practice.

Record amount of funding for researcher schools

This spring, the Research Council of Norway will announce approximately NOK 325 million in funding for the establishment of new national researcher schools. The application submission deadline is 15 April 2015.

The BIOTEK2021 programme's new strategic initiative

The BIOTEK2021 programme is launching a new strategic initiative entitled "Digital Life – Convergence for Innovation" (see description at right). The strategy will be implemented using various support schemes under the programme in the coming years.

NOK 15 million for Innovation Projects for the Industrial Sector relating to marine biotechnology

Up to NOK 15 million in funding is available for Innovation Projects for the Industrial Sector. The objective is to boost value creation based on marine biotechnology by strengthening R&D activity in existing and emerging industry. Marine biotechnology here also includes marine bioprospecting.

2nd joint Call in ERA-net synthetic biology
