About the event
The Research Council of Norway invites to a launch event Thursday 24. June at 11:00- 12:45
IEA Executive Director Dr. Fatih Birol at Norway launch event of IEA's Roadmap for Net Zero by 2050
The IEA's Roadmap for Net Zero by 2050 has generated a lot of attention around the world. The report shows that it is possible to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, but that it will require very ambitious actions and that it is urgent to take these now. This will entail a total restructuring of the world's energy system – i.e. energy production and use in all sectors of the economy. The roadmap includes more than 400 milestones and points out that a massive scale-up of efforts is needed to develop and adopt new technology solutions. The transition to global zero emissions will present challenges for Norway but also great opportunities for the business sector in areas where we have the expertise and advantage to deliver solutions the world needs to reach zero emissions.
At the launch seminar, Dr. Fatih Birol and his colleague Timur Gul will present the main findings and messages from the report. After this, the Research Council of Norway, The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) and Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) will comment on the report (in Norwegian)
