Student entrepreneurship (STUD-ENT)
The STUD-ENT funding scheme is the Research Council’s national competitive arena in which students, together with higher education institutions, may seek financial support for realising student-driven business ideas. The STUD-ENT scheme is intended for individuals who are at the start of their careers and who wish to test their entrepreneurship skills.
The STUD-ENT scheme encourages entrepreneurship among students and helps to promote a stronger entrepreneurship culture in the university and university college sector. Many universities and university colleges are already taking active steps to support student-driven business ideas. The STUD-ENT scheme helps to give a higher profile to the most promising student business ideas, to enhance the ability to implement the projects as well as cultivate students as role models for entrepreneurship culture. Project proposals must be based on business ideas that have emerged from promising research results or are related to knowledge that the students have obtained through their studies. The funding provided is to be used to reduce technology- or concept-related risk to clarify any uncertainties that may prevent the project from moving forward in the commercialisation process. The STUD-ENT scheme is part of the Research Council’s programme Commercialising R&D Results (FORNY2020), a funding instrument designed to strengthen and create new knowledge- and research-based business activities in Norway.
