Bilateral research cooperation between Russia and Norway has long traditions over a broad field of areas; marine research, environmental research, polar research, and energy research. In the Government’s High North Strategy knowledge is central.

As one of eight priority countries and regions at the Research Council, you will find that several of our research programmes and their call for proposals can be relevant for research cooperation with Russian researchers or on Russia relevant topics.

Following up on the Governments High North Strategy, the Research Council of Norway has adopted its own High North Research strategy. Research cooperation with Russia and on topics linked to our mutual interests in the north is among the priority research areas.
