Open science

Transparency and knowledge sharing are critical for all research. An important research policy objective is to ensure that the results of publicly funded research are available to the public. The term “research results” in this context is understood to mean scientific publications and data produced as a result of research activity.

Open access to research data

Better access to research data enhances the quality of research in that results can more readily be validated and verified, and datasets can be used in new ways and in combination with other datasets.

Open access to publications

Under an open access scheme, scientific journals may be read without paying a subscription fee. This makes research results more open and increases their impact within society at large.
