Everything about Research Council grants:

New project databank with advanced statistical capabilities

The Research Council of Norway has now launched its new project databank. This open, interactive tool enables anyone to instantly customise statistical overviews of Research Council grants dating back to 1997.

The Project Databank innovatively displays figures and statistics related to projects funded by the Research Council. The Project Databank offers users myriad opportunities to specify and tailor any statistics regarding Research Council grants from 1997 onward. The databank also encompasses EU projects with Norwegian participation.

Currently the databank is available in Norwegian only, but an English version is in the works, to be launched later in 2014.

Statistics are available for a wide variety of categories, and may be sorted by research topic and subject field, for example. Statistics are available for a wide variety of categories, and may be sorted by research topic and subject field, for example.

Shows priority areas and development of funding over time

The Project Databank takes a completely new approach to displaying evolving trends in project funding over time between sectors, showing geographic distribution and comparing allocations among different institutions. The databank also contains presentations of each and every project that has received Research Council funding, dating back to 1997. A large proportion of these project presentations (project titles and brief descriptions) are already found in English.
The databank is still under development. Features to be made available in the course of 2014 include popular-science presentations from the revised grant applications and progress reports. The Project Databank is a pilot development project that builds upon the Research Council’s internal project tagging system for classification.

User feedback wanted

Feedback from the users is an important component of the ongoing refinement of the databank, and the Research Council encourages comments and suggestions. Please submit feedback via email to prosjektbanken@forskningsradet.no.
