EEA/ Norway Grants (EØS)

There are two main objectives of the EEA Grants; to reduce social and economic disparities in Europe and to strengthen bilateral cooperation Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein and the targeted countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania  - in the Baltic Research Programme; the Czech Republic, Poland; Portugal; and Romania. The programmes will cover research activities in these countries and Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

During the period 2018-2024 calls will be announced within all the programmes for bilateral research projects and supporting activities with the participation of Norwegian research organisations.

The research programmes may comprise all kind of research disciplines, but each call will specify the themes.

The administrators of the programmes are research authorities in the cooperating countries.

This programme/activity normally accepts grant applications from:

The main applicant has to be a research institution (research institute, university, or college) from our cooperating country (not from Norway).

It is required from each project to have at least one Norwegian partner (research institutes, universities and colleges).

Apart from this, enterprises may also participate in the consortia.

Partners from third countries may participate in the consortia, but they are not eligible for support and must cover their own activities.



Overall budget:

2,1 billion NOK for the period 2018-2024, with an annual distribution of about 300 million NOK.
