DEMO 2000 seeks to ensure long-term competitiveness in the petroleum industry and continued profitable and sustainable development of the petroleum resources on the Norwegian continental shelf. The objective of the programme is to qualify new technology and systems in close collaboration between the supplier industry, oil companies and research institutions. Demonstration and qualifications shall be carried out under realistic conditions offshore or at relevant onshore facilities.

The programme promotes collaboration within the petroleum industry in order to ensure the development and application of new technology that can reduce the cost of activities on the Norwegian continental shelf, increase recovery rates, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to improved conditions relating to health, safety and the environment.

Funding under the DEMO 2000 programme is intended to enhance the industry’s own efforts to develop new technology and to support projects of high relevance and significant socio-economic benefit. Funding is to help to maintain Norwegian expertise, employment, value creation and a competitive supplier industry.
