Research Programme on High-quality and Reliable Diagnostics, Treatment and Rehabilitation (BEHANDLING)

The programme BEHANDLING will promote high-quality clinical research and research-driven innovation to ensure that patients receive high-quality and reliable diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation throughout their disease trajectory.

The programme’s objectives are to:

  • strengthen clinical research on large and growing patient groups;
  • strengthen research on patient groups and research questions that are underrepresented in clinical research;
  • strengthen research to develop the clinical practice of tomorrow, which encompasses personalised medicine, including stem cell-based treatment;
  • promote social dialogue and user involvement in clinical research;
  • encourage cooperation and network-building across subject areas, sectors and service levels;
  • enhance the internationalisation of clinical research;
  • expand the use of existing health data and/or associated biological samples in clinical research;
  • foster research-driven innovation;
  • increase research expertise and implementation of research results within all segments of the health services.
