A Nordic panel of experts has concluded an evaluation of seven primary industry institutes. The Research Council of Norway will now be presenting the final report of the evaluation. The report includes specific recommendations to the government, the Research Council and the institutes involved.

The evaluation of primary industry institutes is the last of the four evaluation processes carried out in connection with the Research Council’s plans to evaluate all of the Norwegian research institutes defined within the four categories eligible for public basic funding.

The evaluation has primarily sought to assess the status of primary industry institutes in terms of their relevance and benefit to society, role and scientific profile, quality and expertise, framework conditions and strategic development, as well as international cooperation. The evaluation also addresses the current funding structure and organisation of the primary industry institute arena and provides recommendations on how to organise it in the future.
