The overall message of the Research Council’s new strategy for innovation in the public sector is that there is a pressing need for a new approach in research and innovation efforts both within and for the sector.

The Research Council is still in the first stages of developing effective instruments to increase cooperation on research-supported innovation in the public sector. As this work progresses, the Council will be dependent on active dialogue with relevant ministries, the public sector itself, the research community at large and with other stakeholders that offer instruments to promote and support innovation in the public sector.

In light of this, the Research Council is holding a strategy launch conference. What can we do – together and individually – to promote innovation in the public sector? Do we have the instruments we need?

During the conference we look to Finland for experience and inspiration. Taina Kulmala, head of Experimental Finland, will speak about the project she is heading from the office of the prime minister.

The Norwegian Minister of Education and Research and Minister of Local Government and Modernisation will also attend the conference.
