Assistance in writing proposals

Do you have a promising idea for a Horizon 2020 project, but are not sure whether it is presented clearly enough or has the right participants? You can get help in turning your EU project idea into a completed grant application.

The Research Council offers free external consultancy services to prospective Norwegian applicants to determine whether their EU application is viable. The Research Council has contracted PNO Consultants, a firm used by a number of companies and widely recognised European research institutions, to help to review Norwegian project concepts.

What PNO can help with

  • Mentoring and concept development to produce the best possible proposal for Horizon 2020 funding;
  • Identifying your unique selling points;
  • Helping to find the right partners for your project;
  • Individual sessions to pinpoint specific needs, ambitions and expectations;
  • Finding calls for proposals and funding opportunities best suited to your project;
  • Reviewing your grant application and providing feedback to optimise your chances of winning funding under Horizon 2020.

Save time and resources

The Research Council has found that many Norwegian research and innovation actors seeking Horizon 2020 funding would have saved considerable time and effort if they had received feedback on their project proposal at an earlier stage of the process.

Therefore, the Research Council has decided to offer external consultancy services to Norwegian applicants throughout the entire application process. Assistance is available for developing proposals for all types of Horizon 2020 calls, whether these are for the different types of actions (RIA, IA and CSA funding schemes) or for the ERC, MSCA or COST actions.

If you are planning to apply to the SME Instrument or the Fast Track to Innovation (FTI), however, then you should contact Innovation Norway for assistance from one of their advisers.

Your own consultant

Applicants are assigned a consultant who follows them throughout the entire application phase, from project development to completed proposal, in close cooperation with the Research Council’s National Contact Point (NCP) for the relevant subject area.

PNO has on average a 50 percent success rate on applications they have helped with.

The services for reviewing project proposals are available year round.
