Who is eligible to apply?

Institutions, companies and entities can seek funding for R&D activities from the Research Council. Under normal circumstances, applications may not be submitted by individuals.

Find calls for proposals

Calls for proposals are issued with both fixed and open-ended application deadlines. Calls that have a fixed deadline will be published in the list of “Active” calls six weeks before the deadline. It is not possible to create a grant application until the call for proposals has been made active. More information about deadlines for applications.

Creating an application

To open the application form, applicants must confirm that they have read and accept the conditions set out in the text of the relevant call. In all but a very few cases, grant proposals are to be submitted in “My RCN Web”, which is the Research Council’s overall online application and reporting system.

In addition to the special requirements and guidelines under the individual call for proposals, applicants must also be familiar with the requirements and criteria for the specific application type as well as the Research Council’s general application requirements. If the general information about the application type deviates from the text of the call, the text in the individual call takes precedence.

Application processing

Immediately after an application is received, the Research Council will send notification of receipt by email. The project title and name of the Project Owner (institution/company) will be published in a list of the current grant proposals under processing. Information about when the application review process is expected to be completed is found in the call for proposals.

Once the application review process has been completed, a list of all grant applications that have been awarded funding will be published, along with a list containing the names of the referees used in the assessment process.

The contract for an R&D project is an agreement signed between the Research Council and the Project Owner (institution/company). The contract will be drawn up in cooperation with the project administrator.

Changes to the approved project framework

Projects receiving funding from the Research Council may request changes to the project framework via “My RCN Web”. Change requests are submitted by the project manager or project administrator on behalf of the Project Owner. Notification of whether or not the request has been approved will be sent by email. The status of the change request will be updated automatically on “My RCN Web”.

Please use the new change request function on “My RCN Web” for all requested changes to the project framework. The new function also makes all relevant information relating to your project easily available.

Project reports

Progress and final reports are to be submitted to the Research Council electronically via the individual’s user area on My RCN Web. An email containing information about reporting procedures will be sent to the relevant parties well in advance of the reporting deadline.
