My research interest and background stems from ethnology, communication design and participatory design approaches related to development of digital cultural heritage. I have applied this in the empirical cases in the CONTACT-project with a special focus on the role of social media to conceptions of participation and community building in cultural heritage NGO and with two museums (Norwegian Maritime Museum, Norwegian Museum of Science, Technology and Medicine). I have earlier been working on issues of in tegrating digital media in documentation and dissemination issues of cultural heritage research in RENAME (financed by CMC, UiO 2004-2008) and in MULTIMO (financed by NFR 2003-2004).Within the Norwegian cultural heritage field, there is currently a cert ain interest on policy level in stimulating knowledge exchange between museums and research institutions on digital issues. In CONTACT, the research is based on user involvement and partnership with organisations and museums. Meanwhile, we experience that user engagement and participation in research projects seems to be a new model of collaboration in the cultural sector. And it remains to explore mode-2 research models in relation to the Norwegian framework, but also in relation to ongoing international research and development of digital cultural heritage based on this approach.The two visiting fellow stays that I apply to be financed by VERDIKT-programme, have aims closely connected to these issues of research focus and research management in the fi eld of digital cultural heritage.
