The NORRUSS programme is a social science research programme on Russia and The High North/Arctic with a principal aim to generate new knowledge in this field.
The NORRUSS Call with deadline 13.2.2013 is now active. This time the main topics are: Development of the Russian economy and legal, social and foreign policy.
Applications are invited from highly qualified scholars conducting research in a field relevant to the Aleksanteri Institute's research agenda. Visiting Fellows may be at various phases of their careers, from early stage post-docs to established scholars.
Arctic Frontiers holds its 7th annual conference in Tromsø, Norway, from 20-25 January 2013, with the title “Geopolitics and Marine Production in a Changing Arctic”. Arctic Frontiers 2013 will discuss the current status, challenges and future perspectives of Arctic geopolitics, security and marine productivity.
When the call closed on 5th September at 13:00, The Research Council of Norway had received 19 proposals on the themes; climate, petroleum and environment/pollution.

The pressures on the Arctic region from climate change, pollution, increased accessibility and economic activity are rapidly growing. New knowledge is needed to be able to ensure integrated resource management in the region.
