  • Findings from the International Polar Year (2007-2008):

    Oslo to host largest polar research conference ever

    In June the Research Council will be host to several thousand polar researchers from around the globe. The IPY Oslo Science Conference will comprise the largest gathering of polar researchers ever, and will provide a venue for summarising the initial findings from the International Polar Year.

    US energy secretary met with Norwegian energy researchers

    US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu met with some of Norway's most prominent energy researchers during a conference at the Research Council on 11 December.

  • Research cooperation between Norway and South Africa:

    South Africa: Bilateral research seminars with Royal participation

    Seminars on research and higher education were held in connection with the King and Queen of Norway's State Visit to South Africa at the end of November. Her Majesty Queen Sonja presided over the joint opening of the seminars.
