Ambassador Coovadia leaves Oslo
H.E. Ismail Coovadia's came to the end of his term of duty in December after having served as South Africa's ambassador to Norway (and Iceland) since May 2004.
Always keen to promote cooperation between his country and Norway, Mr. Coovadia showed a particular interest in expanding the relationships in research and higher education. Together with prof. Fanny Duckert of the University of Oslo, he took the initiative to organise the Oslo Celebrations in 2008 with a long series of academic and cultural events. The concluding event of the celebrations was the Scientific Conference organised by the South Africa - Norway Programme of Research Cooperation. We are very thankful for his staunch and active support for the programme during his stay in Oslo.
We will miss both ambassador Coovadia and his wife, Suraya Bhoola-Coovadia, and wish them all the best as they prepare to move to their new duty station.
