Innovation workshop and JC meeting 17 -18 September 2008
In connection with the annual Joint Committee Meeting, the Department of Science & Technology (DST) will host an Innovation workshop on September 17th in Pretoria.
The workshop is a follow-up of DST minister Mosibudi Mangenas visit to Norway last October/November, and will discuss future collaboration opportunities within research and innovation between Norway and South Africa.
The date of the meeting coincides with the International Science, Innovation and Technology Exhibition, INSITE_08, at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg in order to give Norwegian participants an opportunity to visit the fair.
The Joint Committee, which is the highest governing body of the South Africa – Norway programme of research cooperation, will hold its annual meeting on the 18th. It will include an open session where the previous day’s participants are invited to participate in the discussion on the possibility of extending the programme beyond 2010 within certain thematic areas.
13 scientific experts and representatives from the Department of Education and Research, Norad and the Research Council will be travelling from Norway to attend the meetings, In addition, several representatives from the Norwegian Embassy and Innovation Norway’s representative in South Africa will be participating.
