Innovation Award seeking applicants

“Innovation generates increased growth and earnings”. So says Siri Helle Friedemann, new chair of the ONS Innovation Award Jury. ONS is now receiving nominations for its 2010 Innovation Awards.

”Innovation is vital”, says Friedemann. “It carries us forward and generates increased corporate growth and earnings. But it is also beneficial for society as a whole”.

Siri Helle Friedemann is a programme coordinator at the Research Council of Norway. She has been a member of the Innovation Award Jury during the last two ONS events, but this is the first time she has acted as chair.

ONS and Kjell Ursin-Smith are very pleased to have Friedemann on the team.
“She possesses great professional insight, is a joy to work with and has many good qualities. In other words, she was our natural choice as jury chair”.

Award generates growth for its recipients
The Innovation Awards represent considerable value to the winning companies.

Tomax received the Innovation Award for SME in 2006 and believes that it opened doors to the global market.

“When we won the award, our technology attracted considerable attention”, says Senior Operations Specialist Nils Reimers.

“There was interest both in our technology and the company. The award propelled us out of the starting blocks and into the commercialisation phase. We have since doubled our activities year on year, and are now supplying equipment around the world”, says Reimers.

Send us your nominations now
The deadline for nominations or applications for the ONS Innovation Awards is 20 May 2010.

ONS is presenting three awards; the Innovation Award, the SME Innovation Award, and for the first time in 2010 we are seeking nominations for the “Special Innovation Award”.

The Special Innovation Award is presented to an individual or organisation who has played a significant role in the wider energy sector.

Applicants need not be participants at ONS in order to win the awards.

In 2010 Friedemann expects to receive more than 100 award nominations.
“The nominations must be of a certain significance and represent enhanced added value”, says jury chair Friedemann. “We will look positively on HSE-related innovation, and all products or services must be more recent than the last ONS event. Innovation can be research-based, but this is not essential. The jury will also consider innovative ways of combining established technology or new applications of existing technology”.
