About the database

The Research in Svalbard (RiS) database provides information about planned, ongoing, and completed research in Svalbard. It is intended to facilitate coordination of research and field activities and foster cooperation between researchers.

Before you register your project, you must first register as a user.

If you have registered previously but forgotten how to log in, you can reset your password. (Your user name is your e-mail address.)

Log in to register, modify or update your project.

Log in to add information about your dataset.

Each project is given a unique ID, the RiS-ID. You will need the RiS-ID when you apply for permits from the Governor of Svalbard and when booking facilities in Ny-Ålesund.
