The Polar Research programme will contribute to safeguard Norway`s special responsibility for the researched based knowledge that is necessary to exercise policy, management and business activity in the polar regions.
Research affiliated with Svalbard will receive priority, including developing Svalbard as an international research platform and strengthening research cooperation with Russia. Since the Polar Research programme is still under launching, most of the funding for the period 2011-2012 has been announced via the NORKLIMA program.
