NORGLOBAL shall strengthen Norwegian research on and with the South. The programme includes the sub activities POVPEACE, CGIAR, GENDER-EQ, GLOBMEK, ECONPOP, W-BALKAN, TAXCAPDEV and HUMPOL.

The recent 7th annual PopPov conference, which was held in Oslo 23 – 26 January, included a poster session. Two of the ECONPOP projects participated in the session.
The Research Council received 46 applications to the NORGLOBAL/INDNOR call. The applications have been assessed by three expert panels and additional individual experts. The Norglobal programme board was given the mandate to make the final decision on these applications.
187 participants registered for the conference Research for Development, held at Litteraturhuset in Oslo 1 November, far beyond the expectations of the organisers.
A total of approx. NOK 40 million is available for this call, while the total budget request to the programme is NOK 221,3 million.
The NORGLOBAL board received a total of 38 applications to the October 12 deadline. The call included the HUMPOL activity, the joint India/Women and Gender activity, the joint India/Globmek activity and the TaxCapDev.

People in Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia distrust politicians, civil servants and people attached to the judiciary. Such attitudes are not necessarily the result of personal experience. ‘Because so many people assume that civil servants are corrupt, it is easy to behave accordingly,' says FAFO researcher Åse Berit Grødeland.
