About the International Scholarship Section
The International Scholarship Section (IS) promotes the exchange of students and researchers within the framework of international mobility and networking programmes.
Researcher mobility and networking
We offer scholarships for studies and research in Norway and fund researcher mobility and networking between institutions from Norway and many other countries.
The greater majority of our programmes encompasses all subjects areas.
Normally you must as a minimum requirement be admitted to an organised PhD programme to be eligible to apply for our scholarships but we also accept applications from graduate/post-graduate students under some of our schemes.
Select your region from the left-hand column to learn more about our programmes, calls for applications and deadlines.
Incoming and outgoing researchers
We also offer many grants for Norway-based reserachers who wish to go abroad to collaborate with foreign counterparts, please see our Norwegian website for more information by selecting 'Norsk' in the top right-hand corner.
Electronic application
As a rule of thumb applications for our calls must be submitted via the Research Council's eSøknad electronic submission service: See under the 'Funding' tab on our home page. However, applications and reports for some of our programmes must be submitted on paper, available for download from the left-hand margin.
Processing of applications
Our programme board is solely responsible for assessment and selection of applications for funding. For some programmes decisions are made jointly by the committee and relevant programme partners.
