The Industrial Ph.D. scheme
Under this scheme companies may apply for support for a three-year period for an employee seeking to pursue an ordinary doctoral degree at a degree-conferring university or university college. The doctoral research project must be relevant to issues related to the company?s long-term challenges.
Who is eligible to apply for funding?
Companies operating in Norway may apply for funding to cover costs associated with having an employee pursuing a doctoral degree.
When is the application deadline?
Grant applications may be submitted at any time during the year.
How much funding may be sought?
The fellowship covers 50 % of the established current rates for doctoral research fellowships. Small and medium-sized companies may also apply for an operating grant to cover up to 50 % of additional costs related to costly laboratory testing connected with the research fellow’s doctoral work. Companies may also seek funding for overseas research grants at the applicable rates.
What is the average duration of a fellowship?
A company may receive funding for a doctoral research fellowship for a three-year period.
