Workshop on potential for increased use of mineral wastes in cement and concrete

The indo-norwegian workshop aims to increase the utilization of mineral wastes in Indian cement and concrete industry in an environmentally and scientifically sound way. This will be done in order to ensure sustainable energy and resource management.

The Indo-Norwegian workshop is a part of the BILAT-INDIA project, mainly funded by the Research Council of Norway. This is an industry-oriented project between India and Norway, initiated by SINTEF, Norway. The workshop is planned to bring industrialists, researchers and academicians on a common platform to share and discuss experiences, technical advancement, constraints and other issues pertaining to the topic of workshop. The sharing of knowledge and discussions during the workshop will hopefully be useful in suggesting realistic solutions.

Last year's successful workshop on waste management in Nagpur, India. A nationwide core committee was established for implementation of the results from the BILAT-India project. The workshop follows last year's successful workshop on waste management.  The project and the workshop were concluded as good examples of Indo-Norwegian cooperation to achieve a sustainable development.

This year's workshop will be held on 20 December, at Le Mériedien Hotel in New Delhi, India. Indian and Norwegian experts will give presentations on the various topics in the workshop. Challenges and benefits, that arise from an increased utilization of construction and demolition waste, coal combustion residues from thermal power plant stations and slag from steel plants, will be discussed.
