Cooperation with the CRIStin Research Information System:
Simplified reporting of publication data
The next time researchers start compiling their reports to the Research Council of Norway, they will be able retrieve publications already registered in the CRIStin Research Information System with a simple click of the mouse.
CRIStin is Norway’s national registry of research publications and research results. Information in the registry is used among other things to calculate the publication points used as part of the basis for allocations to Norwegian research institutions.
Since the system was introduced in 2005, researchers with funding from the Research Council have had to enter all their publications separately in both CRIStin and in the Council’s internal reporting system. Starting Wednesday 8 January, this will no longer be necessary.

From CRIStin to the Research Council with a single click
“During this past year we have been working with developers at CRIStin to find a solution in which researchers submitting reports to us can access their publication information directly from the national registry,” says Nina Hedlund of the Research Council.
“For this to work, the researchers must have entered their Research Council project number when registering their publications in CRIStin. If they have

done that, all it takes is a single click to transfer the necessary information directly into our online report form.”
Eagerly awaited
“This is an improvement we have all been waiting for,” Ms Hedlund continues. “Many of our users mentioned precisely this in their feedback after the reporting deadline last fall, so we clearly share common interests here.”
Ms Hedlund expects that, over time, most researchers will take advantage of the opportunity to enter publication data directly from CRIStin. But those who wish to will still be able to enter their publications into the reports to the Research Council manually.
