New Research Council policy on intellectual property rights:

Rights to project results to be transferred to institutions

The Research Council's new IPR policy seeks to ensure that results produced by research projects funded with government allocations are used to the maximal benefit of society.

Portrett av Lars Aukrust Lars Aukrust "A key objective is to ensure that the results from projects funded under the Research Council are utilised commercially as well as in further research," says Lars Aukrust, Executive Director of the Division for Innovation. "We have therefore established that the rights to results are to be transferred from the researchers and other project participants to the institutions where they are employed," he continues.

The new IPR policy applies to the rights to research results from projects that are wholly or partially funded by the Research Council. The new RCN principles are in keeping with developments in Norway's partner countries.

Cooperative efforts

The parties must sign an agreement on the distribution of rights before entering into a contract with the Research Council," Aukrust explains.
