Up to NOK 20 million for synchrotron and neutron-based research | Choose |
Synchrotron and neutron beamlines are key tools for studying the characteristics of soft and condensed materials at the atomic scale. Neutron and synchrotron facilities inherently comprise generic methodological platforms that can be applied within a wide range of scientific disciplines. It is therefore in Norway’s national interest to establish, maintain and further develop scientific expertise and methodology development for the application of neutron and synchrotron beamlines.
The primary objective of the SYNKNOYT programme is to encourage research groups to take advantage of the scientific opportunities offered by Norway’s membership of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and its partnership in the Swiss-Norwegian Beam Line (SNBL), as well as to enhance national methodological expertise in synchrotron-based research. Norway is also a member of the European Spallation Source (ESS), and the programme seeks to boost national capacity and methodological expertise in neutron-based research as well.
Universities, university colleges and independent research institutes.
2011-2020
The programme has an annual budget of NOK 10 million.
