Funding for production, translation and copyediting – the humanities and social sciences | Choose |
The Research Council seeks to ensure that important research findings from Norwegian humanities and social sciences are published via high-calibre scientific publication channels. Much of the research conducted within these disciplines is targeted at historical, social and cultural issues in Norway and the Nordic region. Therefore, the Research Council provides funding for the publication of key Norwegian scientific journals and scientific books by recognised Norwegian academic publishing houses that appear on the Norwegian Association of Higher Education’s list of authorised publication channels.
The Research Council also seeks to promote the internationalisation and international profile of Norwegian humanities and social sciences research by providing funding for the publication of scientific books and articles by recognised international publishing houses that appear on the Norwegian Association of Higher Education’s list of authorised publication channels.
To ensure that national scientific journals adapt to new technological and financial conditions, journals may also seek funding to develop their digital distribution channels. These grants will encompass both subscription-based and open access journals.
Links to the guidelines, funding announcements and application forms are available in the right-hand margin.
The Research Council has appointed a special Publications Committee which is responsible for dealing with applications for publication grants. The committee is authorised to take final decisions regarding grant allocations and its members are appointed for a three-year term. A list of the committee members is available at the link on the right.
