The objective of the research initiative is to shed light on important questions relating to the Constitution and democratic governance, historically, today and in the future. Taking the Norwegian Constitution as its starting point, the research initiative will generate comprehensive and fundamental knowledge of – and theses about – the make-up of Norwegian democracy in a historical and comparative perspective.
The research initiative is intended to help establish which issues will play a central role in the celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of the Constitution in 2014, and will achieve this through active dissemination and communication activities as well as cooperation with the Storting’s General Committee for the Bicentennial Celebration of the Constitution.
Universities and university colleges, independent research institutes and other institutions at which research constitutes an important activity.
2010-2014
The budget for the research initiative is expected to be a total of NOK 40 million for the entire period 2010-2014.
