Objectives:

The primary objective of the FOLKEHELSE programme is to generate new knowledge about the factors that affect public health, the causes of social inequalities in health, and the measures that can reduce these inequalities and improve public health.

Activities under the FOLKEHELSE programme for the 2011-2015 programme period will mainly revolve around three thematic priority areas: i) health behaviour, such as physical activity, diet, tobacco use and accident-related behaviour; ii) research on life phases, such as conditions for children and adolescents, education and income related to health; and iii) prevention with regard to mental health. Social inequalities in health will be a key focus across all the thematic areas. The programme may also provide funding for research that investigates other intermediary factors of significance for public health and for social inequalities in health, such as residential environment/geographic factors, the interplay between various factors that influence health, and alcohol and drug use in conjunction with other health-related factors.

Please also refer to the work programme (programplan), which describes the thematic basis and secondary objectives of the FOLKEHELSE programme (2011-2015).

This programme/activity normally accepts grant applications from:
