The website is jointly owned by the Research Council and a number of key research and educational institutions in Norway.

The website offers news and background material on a wide array of research topics, with a focus on use of advanced interactive technology and multimedia experiences. In addition to material produced by its own staff, forskning.no publishes research news from its owner institutions.
