Final conference: Research Programme on International Migration and Ethnic Relat

The conference will mark the conclusion of the IMER programme, which during the period 2005– 2009 helped to promote knowledge and understanding of the social challenges and opportunities posed by migration and ethnic diversity for Norwegian society.

Current and future research
Results from research projects carried out under the IMER programme will be presented at the final conference. New migration research being conducted under the Research Programme on Welfare, Work and Migration (VAM) will also be presented.

The VAM programme is the largest-ever research programme in the social sciences in Norway. The research activity is intended to produce knowledge for use in the formulation of policy and the administration of public welfare schemes.

The conference will be opened by Minister of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion Audun Lysbakken. Professor Ulf Hedetoft of the University of Copenhagen will be the keynote speaker. His presentation will focus on Danish migration policy.
