Aquaculture: The 2010 HAVBRUK Conference

The 2010 HAVBRUK Conference will present new findings from aquaculture research. The conference is being organised by the Research Council’s Large-scale programme Aquaculture – An Industry in Growth (the HAVBRUK programme) together with Frisk Fisk (the aquaculture industry’s annual forum for fish health) and the Fishery and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund (FHF).

The theme of the conference is “Norwegian aquaculture: world leader now, but what does the future hold?” The programme includes plenary lectures related to industrial and research policy as well as project presentations and discussion of project findings.

Research results, primarily from aquaculture research carried out under the HAVBRUK programme, will be presented at three parallel sessions.

The presentations will be grouped according to the following topics:

  • Production biology and production technology
  • Health
  • Feed ingredients, safe feed and fish nutrition
  • Genetics and selective breeding
  • Healthy food, the market, logistics, economics and society
  • Environmental and ecological impacts
  • Animal welfare

The 2010 HAVBRUK Conference is targeted towards the research community, the authorities, the business sector and organisations involved in aquaculture. The business sector in this context refers to all stages of the value chain: fish farmers, suppliers of goods and services, those involved in processing, marketing, sales, transport and distribution. Researchers are the primary target group. Research fellows and young researchers, in particular, are invited to present findings.

The conference is free of charge, but participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.
