Protection of privacy

All the universities, the academic and state university colleges, a number of private university colleges, research institutions and hospitals have signed agreements with NSD stating that the general manager of NSD is the human resources ombudsman for the research performed at the institutions.

The agreement implies that all research and student projects that use personal information are to be reported to NSD rather than to the Norwegian Data Inspectorate. A notification form is available on NSD's website. The completed notification should be submitted to NSD, Hans Holmboesgt. 22, 5007 BERGEN.

Questions about research and the protection of privacy may be directed to NSD by telephone (+47) 555-82117 or by E-mail. For institutions that have not signed an agreement with NSD, notifications or applications for licences may be sent directly to the Norwegian Data Inspectorate.
